Why choose an AI Bachelor after high school?
Data and artificial intelligence are now present in almost every sector: banking, health, industry, e-commerce, public services. Companies are looking for people who can code in Python, work with data and use generative AI tools responsibly. Yet many general programmes only cover AI at the very end, often at master level.
AI2's Bachelor in Artificial Intelligence takes the opposite approach: you specialize in data science and AI from year 1, with project-based learning on real data (open data, open-source projects), hackathons and Kaggle competitions. It is both a data science & AI bachelor and a true post-secondary AI school: three progressive years, from the fundamentals to generative AI, so you graduate with a portfolio and real work experience.
Professional platforms are included in your tuition — DataCamp, IBM SkillsBuild, Kaggle, Hugging Face, GitHub Student Pack (with Copilot) and Google Colab — so you collect certifications and digital badges from year 1. For full details, see the Data Science & AI Bachelor programme sheet.

Comparison
AI Bachelor, BUT, licence or engineering school?
Four paths lead to data and AI careers after high school. They mainly differ in length, admission process and when AI is actually taught.
| Criterion | AI Bachelor (AI2) | BUT in computer science | Computer science licence | Engineering school |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Length / level | 3 years, Bac+3 — RNCP level 6 title | 3 years, Bac+3 at an IUT | 3 years, Bac+3 at university | 5 years after high school (or 3 after prep classes), Bac+5 |
| Admission | Outside Parcoursup: file, technical test, interview — answer within 48h | Through Parcoursup | Through Parcoursup | Through Parcoursup (post-bac exams) or exams after prep classes |
| Role of AI | Data & AI from year 1, generative AI and deep learning in year 3 | General computing (development, networks, databases) | Theoretical foundations; AI mostly covered at master level | Broad scientific core; AI usually as an end-of-programme specialization |
| Work-study | In year 3, 3 weeks in-company / 1 week at school | Possible depending on the IUT and track | Possible in year 3 at some universities | Possible in apprenticeship tracks |
| Intakes | January, May and September | September | September | September |
| Cost | EUR 7,000/yr — EUR 0 with work-study | University registration fees | University registration fees | Varies: public or private schools |
| Format | Paris campus or 100% online, live | On campus | On campus (distance learning at some universities) | On campus |
The BUT and the licence suit students who want a broad computing education in the public system and are fine going through Parcoursup. Engineering schools target strongly scientific profiles ready to commit to five years, with demanding selection.
The AI Bachelor is designed for those who want to work on data and AI from year 1 and enter the job market at Bac+3 with work-study experience — or continue to the AI Master. It is also the most flexible option: year-round admission, January or September intake, and the possibility to study online.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions — AI Bachelor
What is a Bachelor in Artificial Intelligence?
The Bachelor in AI is a 3-year post-secondary degree covering data and AI careers: Python programming, statistics, databases, machine learning and generative AI. At AI2 it leads to a title registered at RNCP level 6 (state-recognized in France), with an optional work-study format in year 3.
What high-school background do I need?
AI2's AI Bachelor is open to any general baccalaureate (math, computer science or physics tracks recommended but not required) and to technological tracks (STI2D, STMG) with a good academic record. Admission is via application file, online technical test and motivation interview — outside Parcoursup.
Do I need to be very good at math?
No. Year 1 includes an applied mathematics and statistics module (80h) that covers the foundations needed for data science. Motivation, curiosity and consistency matter more than your starting level in math.
How much does the AI Bachelor cost?
Tuition is EUR 7,000 per year. In year 3, the work-study format brings the cost to EUR 0 for the student: the company and its OPCO fund the training and you earn between 43% and 100% of the French minimum wage depending on your age. Installments, France Travail support and scholarships are reviewed case by case.
Can I join in year 2 or 3 (parallel admission)?
Yes. Year 2 is open to students with one validated year of higher education in computer science or sciences; year 3 to holders of a 2-year degree (BTS SIO, BUT, L2 math/CS…). The admission test is adapted to each entry level.
How does the work-study AI Bachelor work?
Work-study is available from year 3, with 3 weeks in the company and 1 week at school. You sign a contract with a company, tuition is covered (EUR 0 for you) and you are paid a salary. AI2 supports you in finding your host company.
Can I take the AI Bachelor online?
Yes. The AI Bachelor can be taken either on the Paris campus (21 avenue du Président Wilson, 75116) or 100% online, with live classes, the same instructors, the same projects and the same RNCP level 6 title. Replays stay available 24/7, from anywhere in France or abroad.
When is the next intake?
The next intake is the January 2027 off-cycle start, followed by September 2027. Admissions are rolling, with an answer within 48 hours after the interview.
AI Bachelor or data science Bachelor: what's the difference?
They overlap heavily. AI2's Bachelor covers the whole Data Science & AI chain: data collection and analysis, machine learning, then deep learning and generative AI in year 3. You don't have to choose between data and AI at 18.
What jobs after an AI Bachelor?
The AI Bachelor prepares for roles such as Data Analyst (EUR 38-48k), Junior AI Developer (EUR 40-48k), Junior Data Engineer (EUR 42-50k) or AI Project Officer (EUR 38-46k) — junior gross yearly ranges observed on the French market (public sources, salary surveys).
What further studies after the AI Bachelor?
You can continue to AI2's Master in Artificial Intelligence & Data Science (Bac+5, RNCP level 7), usually as work-study, with four M2 tracks: Data Scientist, AI Engineering, Data Engineer and Data Analyst.
Is AI2's AI Bachelor state-recognized?
Yes. The Bachelor leads to a title registered at RNCP level 6 (France's national register of professional certifications), i.e. a state-recognized Bac+3 level. AI2 is also Qualiopi certified.
